Fishermans Bend is Australia’s largest urban renewal project covering approximately 480 hectares in the heart of Melbourne. Fishermans Bend is comprised of five precincts across two municipalities and connects Melbourne’s CBD to the Bay.

Following the release of the 2050 Vision for Fisherman’s Bend, Studio Binocular was engaged by the Victorian Government to bring this vision to life – communicating a clear direction for Fishermans Bend’s future planning work and delivery.

Fisherman’s Bend is projected to see 80,000 new residents and 80,000 new jobs by 2050.

The Vision recognises the 480-hectare area near Melbourne’s CBD as an opportunity to set new benchmarks for inner city urban renewal, drive best practice sustainability outcomes and most importantly, align with the refresh of Plan Melbourne – our city’s blueprint for growth and sustainability to 2050 across the areas of transport, building resilience to climate change, housing supply, diversity and choice and sustainability and energy efficiency measures.

We worked with a collaborative project team – across state government and the cities of Melbourne and Port Phillip – to develop a visual language and graphic system for the suite of five publications. This included the development of grid systems, colour palettes, typographic hierarchies and systematic master styles.
